German for “Rewind”, Zurückspulen is an early 80s style, synthpop band. Formed in 2013, by Glenn Kirchner and Karl Unsichtbar, Zurückspulen is based in Austin, Texas. The band seeks to return music to a time when synthesizers ruled the airwaves.
Raised in Latin America, Glenn was heavily influenced by the international music scene. He began playing synthesizers in Mexico City with the critically acclaimed synthpop band “Orpheus” in 1986. He credits bands such as Depeche Mode, Blancmange, Bronski Beat, and Gary Numan for significantly guiding his style.
Originally from Stuttgart, Germany, Karl attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Majoring in Electronic Production and Design, he mastered a wide range of synthesis and production tools and systems, while absorbing their theory and principles. Having played the synthesizers since the 1982, Karl says his most influential bands were Kraftwerk, Alphaville, and Depeche Mode.
