These guys rock big time, if you love rock n roll with a rock/country mix then you will love this lot. Vocally fantastic, Lyrically superb and the music is fantastic toe tapping stuff. A must check out band.
Four members, three singers, two guitarists, one drummer and one bassist/pianist/sax-man. The YoungFellas are an amalgamation of southern rock, grunge, funk & punk but mostly they’re a straight up rock n’ roll band. Their live shows are always a party and they love to keep the fans moving.
Most of the songs are high energy with catchy riffs & melodies, coupled with lyrics that beg to be slowed down for another listen. A unique quality to the YoungFellas is their ability to change the mood and style between songs while remaining true their own. One minute you could be caught up in the tale of a vagabond moonshiner whose about to bootleg his last bottle (Buzzin), the next you could be reflecting on your own broken adolescent promises with the melancholy nostalgia in a song like “End of The Line”.
The YoungFellas are made up of brothers Andrew (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar) & Jordan Galloway (Bass/Backup Vocals/Keys/Sax), who have been making music together since they first realized it was great excuse to get loud. Dalton Case (Lead Guitar/Backup Vocals) was born into an extremely musical family and had been a frequent collaborator with the brothers long before YoungFellas. Dane Blacquiere (Drums/Percussion) was the last piece of the puzzle and he fit right in when the four got together for their first jam in August of 2012, marking the birth of the YoungFellas.
The YoungFellas played their first show a few months later with another hometown band, Lust The Tide, to a packed house. Since then they have played all over Central Alberta, playing in a wide variety of venues with dozens of unique bands. In November 2013 the band won a professional recording session and air time on Rock 104.5 Olds through a Battle of the Bands style radio contest and on October 18th they won the final round and will open up for the Rock 104.5 Birthday Bash Headliner (TBA) in July.
Currently the Fellas are working on their debut EP (to be released in the spring of 2014) and playing shows all over Alberta. They’re also planning a summer tour of western Canada this summer ending with a slot at Alberta’s Own Independent Music Festival as well as a tentative tour to Ontario in the fall.
