THAT METAL SHOW ‘PICK OF THE WEEK’ ROBOTS AND MONSTERS RELEASES DEBUT VIDEO ‘DOWN TO ASH’
More than 100 iconic album covers featured as a tribute to trailblazing metal bands including Iron Maiden, Slayer, Sepultura, more!
Monday, June 1, 2015 – ROBOTS AND MONSTERS, featuring ex-members of Mucky Pup, announces the release of the official video for their single “Down to Ash,” the title track from their debut album. Produced by Red Digital, the fast-paced three-minute film is both a tribute to the albums that inspired a lifelong obsession with music for the members of R&M and a live-action manifestation of the song’s themes of personal identity vs mainstream expectations.
The video is anchored by Robots And Monsters’ high-energy performance. Viewers have the added bonus of reveling in dozens of iconic metal album covers including some from Iron Maiden, Slayer, Prong, Exodus, Suicidal Tendencies, Over Kill, Sepultura and Death Angel. “We wanted to accomplish a lot in three minutes,” Robots And Monsters vocalist Dylan Gadino says of the video. “In a very short time, you know who we are, where we came from musically and what’s on our minds.”
The four-piece outfit from Northeast New Jersey was recently featured as a Pick of the Week on VH1’s That Metal Show, on which co-host Jim Florentine gave props to R&M, describing their sound as “hardcore mixed with old-school metal.”
Formed late 2013 by three childhood friends – Bill Bergmann and brothers Derek and Dylan Gadino who grew up on the same street in New Jersey – ROBOTS AND MONSTERS was born from the frustration of daily life. The trio, who had played in bands together on and off since grade school, desperately needed a musical outlet back in their lives. Bergmann is a successful creative director, Dylan Gadino is the founder of comedy site Laughspin.com and Derek is a veterinarian; all three are fathers. Kevin Powers (drums), Bergmann’s friend from touring together with Mucky Pup, joined Robots And Monsters last to complete the lineup.
