Alternate Function

Alternate Function are a group of ex school friends from Brighton who have now gone into different paths. The boys originally met at pre-school and went through infants, junior and senior schools together. They were originally in a 5 piece school band (with two girls) but musical differences saw the boys forming their own band.
The past year has seen the band play many local gigs in Brighton at the legendary Concorde 2, Sticky Mikes Frog Bar, Green Door Store, Prince Albert and Bar 42 in Worthing to name a few, playing support and recently headlining in their own right. They have played two battle of the bands competitions gaining rave reviews from judges (‘Glastonbury ready’, ‘ A band destined to play bigger stages’) and plaudits around their musicianship (‘I wanted to give up guitar playing having seen how good this young band are’) they came second at Bar 42 and won the Brighton Oxjam festival, eventually playing in the main festival.
The band is: –
Willis – Drums, currently studying Music at BIMM
Ben – Bass, currently studying stage management at BIMM
Joe- Guitar and Vocals, currently finishing A Levels in Music and Performance Studies, looking to take a degree in Music
Last summer the band went into Brighton Road Studios to record their second EP, ‘Scopes’, that highlights the evolution of the band from basic indie roots on their first EP, ‘Lights’ to a more mature musical style that encompasses shades of Biffy Clyro and Arcane Roots (two of the guys influences). The EP was recorded by Alistair Gavan from local hero s Electric Soft Parade and The Prizhorn Dance Studio.
They are currently recording new songs at Seamonster Studios in Worthing that will be released as a single later in the year.
